Amber Foster Smith Photography is a full-service boutique photography studio located in the heart of downtown Holly Springs, NC specializing in portrait photography and branding for small businesses.  Our company is growing and we are searching for an assistant team member to assist with client sessions, graphic design as well as various day-to-day tasks in our studio.  Specific duties will be based on hired team member’s skillset and desire to learn certain elements of the business.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and grow.
Availability : This is a part-time position available starting in January 2020.  The position is also eligible for a student to receive Work Based Learning credit for Fall semester.
Hours : Flexible hours are available depending on a student’s current class schedule Monday-Friday 9:30 am-4:00 pm.  Opportunities to assist with photo sessions will be on weekends and evenings.

  • Strong work ethic, reliable, punctual
  • Basic phone and computer skills (MAC)
  • Lightroom, Photoshop and WordPress experience is a plus
  • Familiar with social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest

What can you expect to learn?

  • Hands-on learning experience alongside lead photographer including posing, settings, and techniques.
  • How to interact with portrait clients and create a successful portrait session.
  • The importance of culling and creating a cohesive gallery.
  • Basics of Lightroom for clean edits including exposure, white balance, contrast, etc.
Graphic Design
  • The importance of the balance of using photographic images paired with graphic design for effective marketing.
  • How to work with a consumer client to bring a conceptual design to life.
  • How to manipulate design concepts to be most effective for different platforms such as social media, blog, website, and newsletters.
Business and Marketing
  • What it takes to manage and grow a successful small business.
  • The basics of using social media to reach ideal clients.
  • How to create an exceptional client experience.

What can you expect to do?

(*Specific assigned duties will be based on team member’s skillset and desire to learn certain elements of the business.) 
  • Assist on photo shoots with an opportunity to second shoot and use photos for portfolio use.
  • Cull portrait sessions with an opportunity for post-processing editing based on experience.
Graphic Design
  • Design seasonal marketing material for website and social media.
  • Create custom products for clients including ‘Save The Date’ cards for weddings, family holiday cards and album layouts.
Business and Marketing 
  • Assist in planning and implementing social media marketing.
  • Oversee client workflow and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Communication and customer service with clients including scheduling, follow-ups, etc.
  • General studio tasks including packaging client orders, organizing and cleaning the studio.
