Shhh...you want to know a secret? Who am I kidding it's totally not a secret that one of my absolute FAVORITE places to go for sweet treats in the Triangle is @asalidessertscafe! How much do I love this place? Let me count the ways...to start EVERY single flavor of the macarons are to die for, then there is the baklava cheesecake, the gluten-free almond tart, the lotus cake, then there is the almond cake, oh and all of the above must be paired with a chai tea latte. I still have yet to taste everything, but I promise I will eventually. Have you ever been to Asali? If not you are totally missing out!⁠

I’m in love, I’m obsessed, and I don’t even feel guilty about my love for ice cream from @jtscreamery Between their fresh waffle cones and their huge assortment of dairy-free options I’d pretty much eat there every day if I could. Now excuse me while I go put on my stretchy pants and go order a taco sundae, complete with a fresh waffle for a shell, and all my favorite toppings!

Happy Friday!! I wanted to say hey and introduce myself to anyone who may be new here - I’m Amber, and I'm the heart behind AFSP. I am a mom, wife, educator, authentic storyteller, and a Disney fanatic! Humm...maybe that is where my love of storytelling comes from? This week I took my daughter to go see The Little Mermaid with her best friend and her mom and let me tell you...I felt like a kid all over again. Did I mention I love musicals? Like for real, for real love them. My daughter and I can sing every word to every song in Hamilton and cried when we got to see it in person last year. So naturally when I found out that my favorite movie of all time was being reimagined with the help of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Halle Bailey as Ariel, and Daveed Diggs as Sebastian I was pretty much sold. Y'all REPRESENTATION MATTERS and this was so beautifully done. I pretty much point to my love of this movie as the reason I feel I had to have been a mermaid in a past life. Sigh...only four more weeks until I get to put my fins, I mean toes in the ocean again.⁠

In the upcoming weeks, all of the local high school seniors will be walking across the stage and getting ready for their next adventure in life. This year it’s a bit bittersweet as I remember the chaos, the joy, and the excitement our family was feeling getting ready for our oldest to graduate. How is it that we look back and it feels like they were just born, but it also feels like a lifetime ago?
